Behind the brick walls of the Industrial Park in Wewahitchka something aerial is going down.
Work continues on the tethered airship, or “mothership,” being created by Skyborne Technology, an UAV Corp. company.
The airship will be a centerpiece of the disaster response and recovery technical center to be created at the Gulf/Franklin campus of Gulf Coast State College.

Four years after first conceiving the idea and initiating fundraising, the Florida Coastal Conservancy, the non-profit arm of the St. Joseph Peninsula Turtle Patrol, finally had its Sea Turtle Fountain along Marina Drive in Port St. Joe. Monumental Fabrication’s sculpture was erected this summer, in the middle of a successful turtle nesting season, and further cemented the connection local waters have always had with sea turtles.

There was something oddly poignant taking place in Marina Cove Monday afternoon.
As the grounds of the former boat storage facility at the Port St. Joe Marina were being scooped up for the trash heap in the background, the Florida Coastal Conservancy’s sea turtle sculpture was being erected.

Made of reclaimed steel jet engine exhaust pipes, this 18″-tall table is topped with clear glass…the better to see the exhaust’s sculptural form.
